Saran (Rani) Banks
Rani is a Registered Psychologist and Clinical Psychology Registrar with a Master of Clinical Psychology. Rani is passionate about creating a warm, collaborative, and affirming space where clients feel supported in exploring challenges, gaining insight, and building on their strengths.
With experience working across the lifespan, Rani supports children, adolescents, and adults in navigating a range of challenges, including anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, depression and mood disorders, perfectionism, trauma (including PTSD), neurodiversity (ADHD & ASD), learning difficulties, OCD, personality disorders, attachment issues, anger and reactivity, interpersonal difficulties, bullying (including cyberbullying), relationship concerns, adjustment and grief.
Rani has a particular interest in working with neurodivergent individuals and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as those navigating identity, self-esteem, and life transitions. The approach is trauma-informed and client-centred, drawing on a range of evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Attachment-based therapy, Schema Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills, and play therapy for younger clients. Rani recognises the unique ways mental health concerns shape emotions, relationships, and daily life, while considering how systemic and social factors influence mental health.
At the core of Rani's work is a commitment to empowering individuals to gain deeper self-understanding and foster meaningful change. Rani believes that each person is the expert of their own life, valuing the insights clients bring to therapy. Creating a compassionate, non-judgemental space, Rani encourages clients to be curious about themselves and reflect on their experiences, helping them explore their emotions, thoughts, and behaviours mindfully.
